I thought my first blog entry should explain the importance of the moon,
as it defines the origin of Selena.

“Selena” is of Greek origin, meaning “the Moon”, sister to Helios, the Sun.

I actually learned the meaning of my name only 8 years ago while
my obsession with it grew deeper. i always find myself gazing at the
moon, to see what stage it is in and compare it to my conscious state.

As my interest in the Moon grew, so did my connection with it.
The Moon’s element is Water, as is my astrological sign - Aquarius,
the Water Bearer. As the eleventh sign of the zodiac, its symbol represents
a stream of water, symbolizing the servant of humanity who pours out the water
of knowledge to quench the thirst of the world.

This background photo of the Total Lunar Eclipse was shot on August 28, 2007
on the rooftop of my friend’s apartment. I shot it with my Rebel XT and a macro
lens on a tripod. I shoot all my jewelry and photography with my Rebel XT.
